The Fourth Annual

Two traditions were celebrated this past holiday weekend.  First was the Turkey Bowl, which is the Thanksgiving softball game with the old coworkers of the former employer Chicks/Dicks Sporting Goods.  Just like last year, we all met up at Ayala Park at 7am.  The turnout this year was pretty good, despite missing a few familiar faces.  Of course, racist and stereotypical jokes were made as I am still the token Asian boy. And with the statistic of me hurting a player two years straight, it's pretty obvious that I am the comic relief for the group, haha.  Our team came out as victors and many hugs were given.  I miss working with these guys.

The second tradition would be Wongsgiving.  It marks as the fourth consecutive year that I hosted this formal dinner.  Fourteen people were invited this year and thankfully, they were all able to make it.  Many people couldn't make it for the cocktail portion, but that was expected.  I'm just glad I pushed back the starting time a few hours earlier.  It was a good group of people, like always, and the food was delicious.  Thank you all for cooking/bringing the dishes and beverages.  The weather was extremely cooperative this year, since no one complained about it being cold, haha.  For some reason, setting it up this year was more stressful than usual.  It's mainly my fault for starting the preparations so late.  I seriously considered that this would be the last year I would host such a gathering, but as I sat there at the end of the table watching my friends eating and laughing, it was all worth it.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I'm thankful for you guys.

Booooooo!!!

It was our one month anniversary a few days ago, and only eleven weeks since I've known you.  I am still in awe that I am able to call you my darling.  We've both said that it feels like its been longer than just two months, and it's true.  I feel so comfortable around you that it amazes me that it happened so fast.  Everything is going flawless and it scares me. And like you said, "there must be a catch to this somehow."

Both of our families adore this relationship, and I am no longer afraid of your father, :). Our plethora of inside jokes and quirks will never be humorous to anyone else besides the two of us, and I like that.  I would've never pictured myself doing all these cheesy and cliche things to a girl, but I do them willingly for you.

Last night was our third trip to Disneyland.  There hasn't been one bad date with you thus far, and yesterday was no exception.  We didn't get to Disneyland till 5.30pm, and we were at the park for only 6 hours, but it was the perfect amount of time.  From giving "booos" out to being the only ones on the log ride, it is marked as my favorite Disneyland trip ever.  Thank you for everything so far dear, so many more months ahead of us to get mad at each other!

One day weekends.

Ever since my job assigned me cases on Saturdays, I have been taking advantage of my Saturday nights and Sundays much more than I usually do.

We all did power hour last week.  Vanessa and Jennie were the new contestants, joining alongside Braimy, Lawry, and I.  After a game of Apples to Apples, in which my girlfriend decided to let Lawrence win instead of me, we were ready to start powering.  Jennie was the first to tap out, I was the second, and the remaining four finished the whole hour!  This game never fails to bring to a silly state of mind, haha. The next morning, Vanessa and I took Taylor, Tristen, and my Mom to Chuck-e-Cheese!  I remember Mom teaching Vanessa the kid's Chinese names, hahaha.  After dropping my mom and the kids at my brother's house, we headed for Palms Springs.  The car ride there was fun, BFD right?  Noticing the unrealistic Marilyn Monroe statues, we finally got there mid-afternoon, and our first stop was straight to shaved ice (grape and strawberry).  We watched Wreck-it-Ralph and had fishtacos/sliders/jalapeno calamari for dinner at The Matchbox, delicious.

A few Saturday ago, we all did the booze cruise in Newport.  Braimy, Waldena, Lawry, Vanessa and I used our group-on for unlimited drinks on the hour-long cruise!  I was feeling pretty good with four Jack and Cokes, and we all decided to go keep the buzz going at a nearby bar.  It was a fun night watching Vanessa getting interrogated by Jena and Amy, and bumping into Ricky Alvarado, hahahahaha.  The night ended with half of us at Denny's. After having four hours of sleep, Vanessa and I woke up for Paninis and coffee as we set forth to Disneyland.  There, we met up with my family, and it was Vanessa's first time meeting my brothers and the kids.  (Tristen's twitching head, Taylor's walking the crowd to give us tootsie rolls). We squeezed in Buzz Lightyear, Captian EO, Star Tours, It's A Small World, and the Roger Rabbit ride right before dinner time.  We left Disneyland early for Benihana's; it was for my mother's birthday! It was a fun weekend.

My leave of absence

It's been over 3 weeks since my last post. I'm going to regret not blogging during this gap in the future when I look back.

But things are going great, and it looks like it will only get better from here.  Only thing that is impeding this feeling is my job.  The kids are the only variable that is keeping this all together.  Unfortunately, I've been back on the grind in search for a full-time position.  My family has been persistent with reminding me that my current job will not give the health benefits that I need.  So it looks like I'll be getting interviewed some more again.

Also, I haven't recorded nor have I taken any photographs in a long while as well.  I will definitely get back to those after Thanksgiving.  I have, however, been constantly playing music still, so that is a relief.  In the meantime, I've got Wongsgiving to worry about!
