Pockets full of cane

Marty and I finally got a chance to cover a song of the year.  We combined two folk songs from two of our favorite artists.

If I Go I'm Going / Sweet Carolina

I hope I'm wrong

Things have been feeling more detached than usual. I hope it's just a temporary thing, not the next stage. But as for me, I still definitely feel the same.

The offer and the decision.

On my birthday, Vanessa got us tickets to Ed Sheeran at the Nokia Theatre! Time blew by quick and the show was this past Sunday. At the time when she purchased the tickets, Ed Sheeran was not yet nominated for the Grammys. With his quick rise to stardom, his ticket prices followed suit. We checked the black market to find out that our tickets had went up by 250 percent, going for about $300 per ticket! So we posted our tickets on Craiglists the night prior to the show, just to see if anyone would call and buy them.

And on Sunday, 4 hours prior to the show, I get a call from a lady asking if I still had them. I replied yes and she said that she wanted them and was willing to pay my asking price. She then told me that she would give me a call back in a hour to arrange a way to pick up the tickets. And within that hour, I called Vanessa and we both discussed on what to do. We both thought that we would want to sell since we got excited to post it up on craigslist, but when I got that call, that feeling went away. Vanessa wasn't sure either on what to do with the tickets, and she left me to make the final decision. I took a shower, and it was a miserable one. I felt so shitty and I hadn't even reached a decision yet. After the shower, I decided to give the woman a call instead of waiting. I then made the decision and told her "The tickets aren't for sale anymore." She was overall displeased, and with a few more exchanges, I hung up the phone.

It felt like the world was lifted off my shoulders after that phone call. At first, I thought that having the extra $600 would be awesome for us to use towards a future vacation. But we would be giving up an experience in which we both were excited for. I would be giving up on the artist that I listened to the most during the first weeks of me meeting Vanessa. We may never get a chance to see him again, but we would always have a chance to make $600.

So the night went on as it was originally planned. I had called The Koi to make a reservation for dinner a few weeks back. We got to the valet right on time and we were seated immediately. The presentation of the food was astounding, and the taste was even better. And at the end of our dinner, our waitress brought out our dessert with a candle and a "happy anniversary" chocolate bar on top of the sundae. I thank the restaurant for accommodating my special request. :)

Then it was the Ed Sheeran's concert. I never noticed how pretty that part of L.A. was. We got our drinks in hand and found our awesome seats. Ten minutes within seating and being mesmerized by the amount of people in the sold out event, Ed comes out. His performance was amazing, and his personality made it even better. Thank goodness I said no to the woman with the offer, cause this would've been one of the biggest regrets in my life if I was to miss it.

My sweetest Valentine

I had work till 8 on the day of Valentines, so we agreed on celebrating both our Valentines and 4 months on the following weekend.  Despite me showing up to her house late that night, her parents were nice enough to cook us Vanessa's favorite dishes.  We had carne en su jugo and green enchiladas, along with horchata and chocolate flan.  All of which was homemade by the cooking duo.  We ate so much, and the four of us chatted about exotic foods and how the parents fell in love in high school.

On the following Saturday, I had about 90 minutes between the time I got off work and the time I had to be at her house to make my plan work.  Gathering stuff from home and running through several stores, I was able to make it to Vanessa's house by 4.45.  We were then at English Springs Park by 5, and I parked as she figures out that I had planned us a picnic.  I then open the trunk and took the green picnic basket and a blanket covering the top, along with my guitar.  We found a shaded spot next to the pond and settled in.  In the basket was two wine glasses with a bottle of girly red wine, accompanied by an assortment of cheeses, meats, and cheesecake.  It all went extremely well, despite having a bunch of ducks surrounding us at one point, haha.

For Valentines, I gave Vanessa a heart-shaped locket with a picture of us inside. She got me a new phone case, a girlfriend coupon book, and both of us matching pairs of TOMS shoes!

Valentines did not suck this year, finally, :D

Don't post till Saturday, ok?

We tried archery for the first time. We both didn't expect that the bows would look like a transformer, and we both as damn well didn't expect to get addicted to it so fast. Thanks to Vanessa's living-social coupon, we did our 75 minute session with a hungover yet hilarious instructor. Vanessa was able to hit a cup off of a balloon, and I was able to destroy a bunny's eye and ass. I was recommended to shoot with my left hand due to my inability to blink with my left eye. It wasn't as awkward as I thought, and plus, the picture above came out badass because of it. We will surely be coming back to this place for our second session, and eventually be approved to come shoot without an instructor!

Year of the Ekans

For those of you that had missed your childhood, Ekans is a pokemon. Spell it backwards and you get Snake.

Chinese New Years is awfully close to Valentine's this year.  And when Valentine's is near, so is the birthday  of a little white boy.  It was Marty's 25th, and I planned it the weekend before so it would be easier for everyone to make it.  The turn out was good, and a good amount of the attendees got drunk, haha.  Happy birthday batpaw, I don't see you as much as I used to, but it's all good since we both have found our ladies at the same time, :).

The next day was with my family. Vanessa and I slept for about 3 hours to wake up for the New Years' activities.  My family greeted both Vanessa and I with red envelopes!  It was her first time celebrating our holiday and she was introduced to lion dances, firecrackers, incenses, and lots and lots of Chinese people.  We grew tired quickly due to the lack of sleep and to a mild hangover.  This is the first time I brought anyone to celebrate the Lunar New Year with my family, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Beyonce is a good singer.

I am no big follower of football, so I was pretty unprepared to hear that the Superbowl weekend was among us.  Vanessa wanted to feast on that game day, something preferably home made, and preferably greasy.  Fitting to the theme, we devised a gameplan as to what we could possibly make and gathered all ingredients the morning of.  So as we had the game on in the background, we cooked up these delicious plates.

Mexican Pizza Taco
Bacon Wrapped Dates
Fried Chicken and Potato Wedges (we did not make these, credit goes to Alberton's, haha)
Coronitas (thanks to Mr. Navarro)

As Krystal and I watched the halftime show, I discovered the rest of the family's hatred of Beyonce, haha. As for the actual game, I won 20 bucks thanks to the Raven's victory, thanks Vanessa :P
