The Chewbacca Defense

With my girlfriend being a Wookie, the defense is valid.

Last week was our seven month anniversary, :).  Vanessa took me to Roy's in Pasadena.  It is a Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine that she discovered in Hawaii last year.  The short ribs and Roy's trio of fish was delicious, and the drinks were strong enough to put us in a good buzz.  She got me Cartman speakers for my ipod!

Sunday afternoon was our second Angel's game.  Accompanying us this time was her mom and grandma, :).  With her grandma being a huge Angel's fan, it was fun to watch her be so serious while the three of us were just waiting for the game to be over with.  I think Vanessa's mom is more comfortable with me because she has called me a hipster for the second time, haha.

The following two nights were spent celebrating with law school graduates.  Marty and Brandon both graduated from Chapman University and had a family/friend gathering at their respective homes in consecutive days.  Both parties had amazing food, and plenty of alcohol.  Juanita and Duke were adorable hosts at Brandons, and Mr. Cihigoyenetch creates quite a classy gathering at Marty's.  It was good seeing the whole gang sitting in one table and just laughing and drinking, something that doesn't happen quite often anymore.

Thanks, Bob.

So Vanessa and I dived into two new series last week, both of which are drastically different in genre and culture.  One of which is Breaking Bad, a show we've been meaning to start for quite some time now.  We have watched a total of 4 episodes now and it surely does live up to its hype of being addicting.  The other is Death Note, an older Japanese anime that I had already loved and was intrigued into having Vanessa experience it as well.  We are pretty much looking forward to a full day off and away from everything so we can just be lazy....watching Breaking Bad and Death Note....playing Minecraft....eating pizza....and drinking.

Video Games #2

So Vanessa recently found her Super Nintendo and we created a temporary game station in her loft. Only a handful of games were located for the system, among them being Donkey Kong Country and Megaman X! To my surprise, again, Vanessa is a professional in both games, remembering all moves and secrets. It turns out she was a bigger gamer than I was as I child.

Minecraft is still steadily going for us. It's hard to lose interest when we constantly yield treasure each time we go mining. We found a record of 56 diamonds in two hours last week! We are fully decked out in diamond armor and wielding diamond tools, while slowing building our home and collecting the essential materials to progress more in the game.  Here are some pictures of our journey thus far.

Zero Energy

My face is so relaxed when it is at zero energy.

Vanessa and I went to Vegas last weekend. For two months, we've been waiting patiently for this vacation to arrive. We were originally going to stay at Circus Circus, but from hearing all the horror stories and first hand accounts from people that have never stayed at the hotel, we changed it to Hooters.

We went wild on our first night. We got to Vegas around 4.30pm and we opened our bottle of Greygoose that kept us company for the remainder of the weekend. We decided to try The Wicked Spoon buffet at the cosmopolitan. The food was good, but the selection wasn't as amazing as it was hyped. Despite that, I think the buzz from the alcohol clouded our fullness because we ate way too much. We walked back to our room and tried to uncomfortably sleep off the undigested stomaches. By 11pm, we knocked out till 9am next morning. That was our wild first night in Vegas, yolo.

On Saturday, we both were determined to make up for the prior night's failure. I'd say we succeeded in the end. We went to the pool, walked the strip, ate at the delicious Earl of Sandwich, gambled blackjack, roulette, and pai gow at the Bellagio, all the while keeping our steady buzz going with our weekend drink of Greygoose, cactus cooler, and 7-up. We got back to our room to get ready for our 7pm showing of the Cirque du Soleil's Ka at the MGM! Vanessa treated me to this show and it was amazing, thanks baby. After the show, we still had ample time for dinner, so we ate at Rainforest Cafe. We walked back and forth from MGM to Hooters since the taxi driver refused to drive us across the street, haha.

With an hour to get ready, we finished every last drip of the bottle and we ended our night with Haze, the nightclub at Aria. We both drank more at the club to ensure that we were both buzzed enough to "dance", haha. It was a very good day in Vegas.

We managed to grab some dimsum before the long drive home. The drive home consisted us discussing our favorite moments of the weekend and playing 20 questions. There was never a negative moment this whole weekend.
