So Vanessa and I decided to make an effort and have a mini getaway for the day. She thought of the idea of going to Malibu to try out this gelato place called Grom. Having had it once before in Europe, she recommends that the drive is worth it. So we set forth in our first of many destinations. We made it to Malibu at about 12 and found ourselves in a mini shopping village. The gelato was delicious, and the amount they give you is quite deceiving. We walked around the village afterwards and proceeded to drive to visit the Pacific Ocean. We parked alongside the coast and walked down to the nearly empty beach. The weather was perfect and the water felt good on my feet. We sat there for quite sometime. We took jumping pictures and managed to step on poop. Smooth one man.
We decided that the Santa Monica Pier was our next destination. So we drove back down the PCH only to make a few more pit stops on the way. Vanessa had noticed an antique shop on the coast while we were driving up, so we made sure to stop by on our way back. We also stopped by the American Apparel since V had something to return. It turned out to be her lucky day since the cashier informed her that the card they were going to give V already had 70 dollars credit! No one comes out with a profit in American Apparel, but she manages to do it.
We got to Santa Monica Pier at around 5. Parking was scarce and prices were outrageous (one place charged $30 to park!). But somehow, someway, we discovered a hidden parking structure a block away that was only charging $5 for the whole day. Skeptical at first, we were scared that this was some sort of unguarded crimefilled lot, lol. But it turned out alright, both for our car and our wallet. There was a lot of people at the pier, and we soon found out that there was a concert going on for KROQ's blood drive. As we were walking towards the end of the pier, the sun was setting, and everyone just watched, snapping pictures in awe of how fast the sun disappears. We reached the end and decided to have dinner there, at Mariasol. We got seated quickly and we shared a giant Coronita Margarita. We ordered a massive appetizer plate and shared it till we couldn't anymore. We finished and got back to the car, it was 8.
On the drive back home, we both didn't want the night to end just yet. So we made one last stop at Rowland Heights where V grabbed a 40oz. and chugged it just before entering a Korean tradition - Karaoke. We sang and danced to Justin, Lady Gaga, Beatles, and Elton John for an hour. We were pretty dead tired after it all, and we finally made it home. We did a lot that day, and thinking back now, we need more of those.
